Ok. So music has definitely improved these last couple of years. I can actually look forward to rap albums for the first time in a LOOOONG TIME! J.Cole's Cole World album was solid, Drake's Take Care album was good, and Jay-Z & Mr. West's Watch the throne exceeded expectations. Now that another one of the most anticipated albums this year dropped (GOD forgives, I don't) Maybe the upcoming albums list has fizzled down a tad. I'm here to remind you America, There is still a lot of Hip Hop music to get excited for!
Here's my top 10 list of most anticipated Rap albums!(Minus Detox....Which has been anticipated for 12 years Now)
8. Machine Gun Kelly - Lace Up (Due October 9, 2012)
Singles: Invincible, Hold On (Ft. Young Jeezy)
Machine Gun Kelly is a crazy ass white boy! But he's the first white boy that I don't really compare to Eminem. His flow is equivalent to Twista, and his swag is equivalent to Meek in my opinion. He straight raps, and doesn't give you any of that weak s--t. I look for this album to have really good energy, and some cheap Diddy/Bad Boy plug ins! Just as long as he doesn't ad-lib after every word like he did Biggies album I'm fine with it.
7. 50 Cent - Street King Immortal (Due November 13, 2012)
Singles: New Day (Ft. Dr. Dre & Alicia Keys)
Boy O Boy does 50 Cent have a lot to prove on this upcoming album! Not too many people believe in his sound anymore! He's like the Kobe Bryant of rap right now! He still gets respect, but for how much longer? He's released a couple mixtapes since his last album, and none of them have really created the buzz he wanted. One thing I do know is this album will probably have excellent quality, and some good features. This is officially 50 Cents make or break album......YIKES!
6. French Montana - Excuse My French (November 2012)
Singles: Shot Caller, Pop That (Ft. Lil' Wayne, Rick Ross & Drake)
French definitely has his ears to the streets right. You can catch him everywhere! I personally think he wins the 2012 award for the best chorus maker....an award won by Ja rule, 50 cent & Mase in the past. But can this guy put together a full fledged album? Hmmmmmm. Yea his beats will probably be great, but what about his lyrical content? Hmmmmmmm.
5. Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album (September 25, 2012)
Singles: Bitch Bad, Lamborghni Angels
Anytime there's a rapper that's made 2 classic albums, you definitely have to look forward to everything after that. Now I'm sure he can't repeat the magic of The Cool, But i'm sure it will exceed the blunder of Lasers. His first two singles are "meh" (like he described 2 Chainz Birthday song) but you should look forward to this album because his lyrical content promises to amaze. On top of that, this album has been anticipated for nearly 3 years. How do I know? Because I used to be one of Lupe's biggest fans.
4. Wiz Khalifa - O.N.I.F.C. (September 18, 2012)
Singles: Work Hard, Play Hard
Speaking of blunders, Wiz Khalifa's first album is Bad! How bad? Lolo Jones on the track Bad! No flow to it, commercial songs, and too much singing. For fans of his new mixtape Taylor Alldice, ya'll should be pretty excited about this LP. I am assuming it's gonna be a lot like the mixtape, because he's acknowledged numerous times that he messed up with Rolling Papers. Let's just say I was optimistic until I saw that album cover!
3. Meek Mill - Dreams and Nightmares (October 2012)
Singles: Amen
Meek is arguably the best new artist of 2012. His alliance with Maybach Music has definitely elevated his status. It's also elevated his expectations for something good. Let's be honest, Maybach music believes in putting out really good music, and anything less than a solid album with Great beats and elaborate features would be disappointing. I Expect good quality from this album, and a lot of versatility. If Amen is any indication of the direction of the album, expect something memorable.
2. Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, m.A.A.d City (October 2, 2012)
Singles: The Recipe, Swimming Pools (Drank)
Remember when I said Meek Mill was arguably the best new artist of 2012? Well this is his competition. The respect level from all his peers from Dre, to The Game, to even Lady Gaga has shown you how much his music is loved. His style is definitely unique, and his brain is a little unscrewed, which is why we're drawn to him as rap fans. He reminds me a little of a young but lesser twisted Eminem. That should definitely draw some listeners......of all kinds.
1. G.O.O.D. Music - Cruel Summer (October 2012)
Singles: Mercy, Theraflu
Big Sean, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Common, John Legend all on one album that is managed by Kanye West! Enough Said! Now I don't really like the track theraflu, and Mercy is annoying, but I still can't write off this album as the most anticipated! Anytime you get 'new music' from Kanye West we should cherish it.
It also seems like Mr. West is ready to let loose on this album. He's already gone off on Kris Humphries, and stated that he wrote a song about Kim called "Perfect Bitch" What else is next? Illuminati whispers anyone?
Anyways, I look for this album to be very intricate music, and for it to be something that we rock for a couple years to come.
| Don't F This up Kanye |
